Cayo Costa Cayo Costa is located on the southern side of Boca Grande Pass. It can't be accessed by automobile and is largely undeveloped except for some vacation homes next to the Cayo Costa State Park. Nancy & I left Ft. Myers on Monday, Feb 14th and motored to Cayo Costa. We anchored in Pelican Bay close to the State Park, dinghied over to the park docks the next day and took the shuttle over to the Gulf-side beaches. Breathing was sometimes difficult there because of the red tide but more noticeable was about 3 dozen dead baby sharks along the shoreline on the Gulf.
